The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Specifications might be disappointing. A recent leak suggests that the phone will mostly stick with what’s already working, offering only minor improvements over its predecessor, the Z Fold 5.

The leak, courtesy of tech news site SmartPrix, claims to reveal the entire spec sheet of the Z Fold 6. Let’s dive into the details.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Specifications:

Displays: Bigger on the Inside, Same on the Outside (Expected)

The Z Fold 6 appears to come with two Dynamic AMOLED 2x displays. The main folding display, unfolded, is rumored to be 7.6 inches with a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2160 x 1856 pixels. This might be a slight change in resolution compared to the Z Fold 5, but the overall display size remains the same.

The leak suggests a bigger improvement for the cover display, the one you see when the phone is folded shut. This external screen is said to be 6.2 inches, with the same 120Hz refresh rate but a resolution of 2376 x 968 pixels. While the diagonal size might be identical to the Z Fold 5, the wider aspect ratio on the Z Fold 6 could offer a more comfortable experience.

Performance:

The leak doesn’t explicitly mention the processor powering the Z Fold 5, but it does reveal a peak CPU speed of 3.39GHz. This suggests the phone will likely be equipped with the most recent Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The leak also points to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, keeping pace with current high-end smartphones.

Camera: Same Setup, Potential for Software Improvement

The camera department seems to be where the Z Fold 6 takes the biggest step back. The leaked specs indicate a triple-lens setup identical to the Z Fold 5: a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x zoom. While some improvements on the software side are possible, users expecting a new camera system might be out of luck.

Battery and Charging: No Change Expected

The leak suggests the Z Fold 6 will pack a 4,400mAh battery, the same capacity as the Z Fold 5. Disappointingly, there’s no mention of faster charging speeds. The Z Fold 6 is likely to stick with 25W fast charging, which is starting to feel outdated compared to competitors.

Design and Other Specs: Lighter Body, Familiar Features

The leaked dimensions show the Z Fold 6 might be slightly thinner and lighter than its predecessor. The weight is rumored to be around 239 grams, compared to 253 grams for the Z Fold 5. This could be thanks to a possible titanium frame, but the leak doesn’t confirm the material.

Other features like the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth v5.3 are also expected to carry over from the Z Fold 5. There’s no mention of upgrades to the newer Wi-Fi 7 or Bluetooth v5.4 standards.

A Year of Refinement, Not Revolution (Copying Apple again?)

With mostly familiar specs, the Z Fold 6 appears to be an iterative update rather than a revolutionary leap forward. While a lighter design and potential software improvements are welcome, the lack of significant upgrades in core areas like camera and battery might make some users hesitant, especially considering rumors of a possible price increase.

We’ll have to wait for the official announcement from Samsung to confirm these leaks and see the final details of the Z Fold 6. Until then, those hoping for a major jump in foldable phone technology might want to look elsewhere.
